After completion of the project
I am delighted to confirm that it was a pleasure to work with Ms Yolande Jaglin. The task was difficult from the beginning, having to restore an 18th century cottage in Kent which was in quite bad condition. The previous owners had ruined the historical atmosphere by furnishing and decorating in pop-art 70s style that clearly clashed with the period spirit of the house.

Yolande showed great enthusiasm for the style needs of the place, situated between a gothic church and an ancient Norman castle, and started working keenly from the beginning. Over a span of five months, she concentrated on lighting, flooring, curtains, bedrooms and bathroom with dedication and original innovations that brought a fresh and shining touch to the whole house. Helped by a flexible and patient team of builders, we have been able to refurbish all the rooms to spectacular effect. Yolande also showed great competence in the choice of all materials and nice and joyful tastes in the choice of furniture, not dismissing ongoing discussions and even changes of mind from time to time, as an inevitable part of this kind of project.

She also gave proof of flexibility on top of competence. Working with Yolande gave me the opportunity to learn as well. For example I came to appreciate her idea to paint with a greyish-white the ground floor ceiling beams thus removing the dark reflections that made the cottage gloomy, and obtaining eventually a surprisingly sunny effect which would have been hard to imagine before. The choice to replace the fireplace with a more appropriate period piece was also an inspired one.

Yolande also showed sensitivity for the budget, in staying within the fixed threshold as much as she could.

I found that she definitely changed my house into a far brighter, prettier and warmer place which has now inspired positive feeling in all its visitors, and, most importantly, in myself. I'd like to recommend this lady to whoever needs to undertake a period refurbishment or restoration of their house. Given the efforts and concentration she puts into her work, I found her fee well deserved.
